Taryn Newborne
Born in Memphis and raised in Atlanta, vocalist Taryn Newborne brings a deep, lived connection to swing and blues, shaped as much by the dance floor as the bandstand. A longtime member of the Lindy Hop community, she is known for singing with dancers, not just for them — listening, responding, and letting the energy of the room guide the music.
Rather than relying on a fixed set list, Taryn calls tunes in the moment, creating an experience that unfolds organically. Her approach reflects the tradition of swing-era bandleaders who understood that great music and social dancing are in constant conversation.
Taryn has collaborated with The Glenn Miller Orchestra, Michael Gamble and the Rhythm Serenaders, Paul Cosentino and the Boilermakers, Danny Jonokuchi, and Gordon Webster. She has appeared at events including the International Lindy Hop Championships, Beantown Lindy Hop Camp, Atlanta Lindy Exchange, Backwater Blues, Holy City Blues Exchange, Lindy Fest, and more.
For Low & Slow Lindy Weekend, Taryn will be a featured guest vocalist for two nights of music shaped in real time — grounded in groove, connection, and the shared language of dancers and musicians.
